Treatment Programs
A full continuum of evidence-based care for lasting recovery.
MMH Rehab offers comprehensive treatment programs designed to meet each individual where they are. From medical detox through outpatient care, our clinical team provides personalized, evidence-based treatment at every stage of recovery.
Medical Detox
Medical detoxification at MMH Rehab marks the critical opening chapter of your recovery. Our San Diego campus provides uninterrupted physician and nursing supervision in a secure, calming environment steps from the Pacific coast. We utilize medication-assisted treatment as clinically warranted to manage withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants.
A standard detox stay at our facility spans 3 to 10 days, determined by the substance involved, duration of use, and the patient's overall medical condition. Our medical team monitors vitals around the clock, adjusts medications dynamically, and provides emotional support throughout the process. Upon medical clearance, patients transition directly into residential or outpatient programming without interruption.
Residential Treatment
Our residential program offers a 30- to 90-day immersive experience built around clinical rigor, structured accountability, and the restorative influence of San Diego's coastal setting. Within our 56-bed campus on Voltaire St, each resident follows a daily schedule encompassing one-on-one counseling, evidence-based group therapy, family sessions, and wellness programming.
Clinical treatment draws from CBT, EMDR, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational enhancement, and 12-Step facilitation. These are complemented by ocean-adjacent fitness sessions, surf therapy, guided meditation, and creative expression workshops. Specialized veteran and first-responder tracks address service-related trauma, moral injury, and transition challenges. The result is a comprehensive recovery foundation designed to endure long after discharge.

Outpatient Program
MMH Rehab's outpatient services encompass both an Intensive Outpatient Program and a standard Outpatient track, each engineered to deliver substantive clinical care without requiring full-time residence. Sessions convene at our Point Loma facility several times weekly, employing the same evidence-based approaches that drive our residential program.
The IOP track involves 9 to 15 weekly hours of group therapy, individual counseling, and relapse-prevention skills training. As patients stabilize and build confidence, they step down to our standard outpatient track at 3 to 6 hours per week. Both tracks incorporate regular toxicology screening, family engagement sessions, and detailed aftercare planning connected to recovery resources across San Diego County and Southern California.
Dual Diagnosis
Many individuals seeking addiction treatment at MMH Rehab also contend with co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as PTSD, major depression, generalized anxiety, or bipolar disorder — particularly among our veteran and first-responder patients. Our dual diagnosis program treats both conditions concurrently, because isolating one while neglecting the other significantly raises the risk of relapse.
Our psychiatric staff performs detailed diagnostic workups and collaborates closely with therapists and counselors to build unified care plans. Patients receive individual psychotherapy, psychiatric medication management when indicated, specialized co-occurring disorder groups, and practical coping-skills training for managing symptoms well beyond our campus. This synchronized approach maximizes the likelihood of sustained recovery and enduring mental wellness.
